Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Workers Social Security Agency (BPJAMSOSTEK) collaborates with the Health Ministry to offer the booster shot, or the third dose COVID-19 vaccination, to two thousand of its employees in Jakarta.

Through a release on Wednesday, the agency noted that the vaccination is being conducted for two days at the BPJAMSOSTEK Plaza Building in South Jakarta.

BPJAMSOSTEK's General Affairs and Human Resources Director Abdur Rahman Irsyadi and Supervisor Board Chief Muhammad Zuhri were the first vaccine recipients.

In his speech, Irsyadi noted that the booster shot is the agency's step to curb the spread of the virus within the office environment.

It also serves as a form of support to the government's program in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The booster shot aims to strengthen the body's immunity that tends decline after six months since the complete vaccination was taken, and it could also serve as an antidote to the Omicron variant.

Irsyadi pointed to an increase in the number of employees of the agency that had contracted COVID-19.

"They are our valuable assets, and vaccination prevents them from infecting their fellow employees and the public while interacting with them," he elaborated.

Every registered employee is ensured to have a booster shot ticket, and the AstraZeneca vaccine was administered based on the ministry's stipulation.

All employees of the agency spread across Indonesia will also be offered the booster vaccine through collaboration with the local Health office.

Meanwhile, speaking in connection with that opportunity, the Health Ministry's official Sugianto lauded the agency's prompt response in warding off the COVID-19 transmission within its work environment.

"Currently, there is a surge in the case count and preventing it requires not only vaccination but also adherence to health protocols," he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Head of the agency's Jakarta Mampang Branch Office, Ali Mugni T, welcomed the booster shot in order to proffer a sense of safety to the employees while working and serving the people.
