Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI) Commander General Andika Perkasa has said that the joint leadership meeting between the TNI and National Police is an opportunity to enhance synergy in maintaining the country's security and sovereignty.

In enhancing the synergy, he has instructed military officials not to organise the TNI leadership meeting and TNI-National Police leadership meeting separately.

"The TNI leadership meeting and the joint leadership meeting must be united, and there will no longer be a separate TNI leadership meeting," Perkasa said at a meeting broadcast by General Andika Perkasa's official YouTube channel on Saturday.

During the meeting, he reviewed reports from the TNI commander's Assistant for General Planning Affairs Rear Admiral Heru Kusmanto and Primary Assistant Officer I of General Planning Affairs Staff Colonel Reksawan Ardianto.

Kusmanto informed Perkasa that he has coordinated with the Police Chief's assistant for operational affairs that serves as deputy head of the leadership meeting's organising committee, regarding the agenda for the event.

"In principle, colleagues from the Police force are supportive to plans that we have made," Kusmanto said.

Ardianto then informed the TNI Commander regarding the main agenda for the meeting.

"We have planned three agendas during the meeting. They are briefing from the President, briefing from the TNI Commander, and briefing from the National Police Chief. We will employ a face-to-face meeting and video conference methods," the main assistant officer said.

President Joko Widodo would be the first person to speak to the leadership meeting's participants, he added.

Responding to his subordinates' reports, General Perkasa instructed the organising committee to propose to Police colleagues to also invite Speakers of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and House of Representatives (DPR RI).

"Besides inviting the President who leads the chief executive branch (of the Indonesian Government), we also propose that the MPR and DPR speakers be invited as well," he remarked.

The TNI and National Police have yet to announce the date of the joint leadership meeting but it may take place at the TNI Headquarters in East Jakarta.
