Head of Bogor District, Ade Yasin, had instructed stakeholders to assist in the process of improving the economy, Yasin noted in Bogor on Friday.
He harbors high expectations from the Horticultural and Plantation Food Crops Office, especially since the sale of ornamental plants actually recorded an increase during the pandemic.
The export of ornamental plants from Bogor District could generate Rp700 million worth of foreign exchange per day, he noted.
"There are 622 farmer exporters from Bogor District, who are members of 52 companies that issue phytosanitary or export permits, with an average state foreign exchange of Rp500 million to Rp700 million per day," he noted.
In 2021, Bogor District also recorded other achievements in the agriculture sector, including the production of 4,151 tonnes of Robusta coffee and 473 tons of Arabica coffee.
Robusta production clocked an increase from year to year. In 2019, coffee farmers succeeded in producing 3,667 tons of robusta beans, while in 2020, they had produced 4,004 tons.
This was despite the projection that Bogor District would only produce 3,726 tons of coffee in a year.
Currently, Bogor District is ranked fourth in terms of coffee production nationally and ranked first in West Java in terms of robusta coffee production.
West Java comes second, with the largest Robusta coffee production recorded in Kuningan District, reaching 1,531 tons annually, and Tasikmalaya District ranked third, with 1,188 tons per year.
Yasin is confident that Bogor District had myriad natural resources that could be utilized for agricultural purposes. With the right technology, it would bear good results.
