Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto inaugurated the unveiling of the G20 Studies Center that is the result of cooperation between the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and Pelita Harapan University.

"The G20 Studies Center was formed with the intention of producing knowledge inheritance for the future generation," Hartarto noted in his statement on Saturday.

"I am proud and thankful to the leadership of the Pelita Harapan University, the Political and Social Science Faculty, and the executives at the Indonesia G20 Studies Center that finally realize this unveiling," he remarked.

The G20 Studies Center was established, as G20 is the right forum to build dialog, ideas, and innovations as well as to conduct cooperation between the academic community and the stakeholders.

The government readies the younger generation, so that its members can respond to new trends and existing global challenges as a foundation for sustainability and future-oriented development.

Hartarto believes that the Indonesia G20 Studies Center can be the first university-based G20 Studies Center both in Indonesia and in the region.

"We expect that this G20 Studies Center can also respond to new geo-political, geo-economic studies in the post-COVID-19 environment," he affirmed.

"The G20 Studies Center is also expected to involve global experts to support Indonesia's G20 Presidency," he affirmed.

To handle the current global challenges, such as geopolitical tensions, the COVID-19 pandemic, climate changes, and digitalization, Indonesia remains committed to encouraging progressive policies by maximizing its role in the G20 Presidency in 2022.

During Indonesia's G20 Presidency, the government also involves the younger generation within the Youth 20 (Y20) engagement group.

During this G20 Presidency period, Indonesia will apply a new approach by striving to provide real results, bridging the gap between the business community and policy makers, and ensuring coherency in agendas promoted by working and engagement groups.

The minister also stated that the government will work inclusively and collaboratively to promote relevant agendas that align with the theme of Indonesia's G20 Presidency: Recover Together, Recover Stronger.
