We have detained eight people. We are interrogating witnesses to decide their status
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police have detained eight people for allegedly selling 26 tons of cooking oil above the government-set retail price ceiling.

"We have detained eight people. We are interrogating witnesses to decide their status," said Chief of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Budhi Herdi Susianto di Jakarta.

The police are investigating the role of the eight people to see whether the sale of cooking oil is a criminal offense.

"We have confiscated cooking oil that was to be allegedly sold at above the retail price ceiling," he said.

The case came to light when the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police received a report of sales of cooking oil at above retail price ceiling.

"If we refer to Trade Minister's Regulation No. 6 of 2022, they will be subject to administrative sanction. We will leave the case to the authorized institution to impose the administrative sanction," he said.
