Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Mataram city government, West Nusa Tenggara, has said that it will revise its 2022 hotel tax revenue target of Rp22 billion if economic and tourism activities in the area continue to improve.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), the realization of hotel tax for two months in 2022 has begun to improve with the achievement of Rp4.6 billion or about 20.93 percent of the Rp22-billion target," head of the Mataram Regional Financial Agency, HM Syakirin Hukmi, said in Mataram on Thursday.

According to Hukmi, if the trend of hotel tax payments keeps increasing and the monthly target is achieved, the Rp22-billion hotel tax revenue target will be revised.

"The determined target is Rp22 billion because we view that the pandemic conditions are dynamic, but the 20.93-percent realization at the beginning of this year was good," he explained.

However, Hukmi said that he cannot yet project by how much the tax will be revised and added that the situation will need to be monitored in the next few months.

According to him, to achieve maximum hotel tax payments in the first two months of 2022, various efforts had been made, such as sending Mataram Regional Financial Agency employees to hotels on the 15th of each month, the deadline for tax payments.

"It was effective because some taxpayers forgot about the deadline, so they needed to be reminded," he said.

In addition, he explained that his staff also generated data on hotel taxpayers who tended to pay their taxes late for various reasons.

Hence, Hukmi said, intensive monitoring and problem identification of hotels whose taxes were overdue were carried out.

"We gathered together to find the best solution to problems in paying tax that were faced by taxpayers," he added.
