The derivative regulations that become the operational legal backbone for the IKN Authority are the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the IKN Authority and the Presidential Decree (Keppres) on Appointment of the Head of the IKN Authority.
"It is very possible," Tuturoong noted in a press release on Tuesday.
Tuturoong also remarked that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will work on the physical construction of Nusantara under the coordination of the head of the IKN Authority, who would be appointed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
To this end, the head of the IKN Authority must have experience in building physical infrastructure on a large scale in government and private organizations.
The IKN Authority head, who will be elected, must also be able to coordinate with various stakeholders, such as ministries and agencies as well as local governments to relocate and build the new capital city, he remarked.
"This is because the development of IKN Nusantara cannot be separated from the surrounding area in an integrated spatial plan," he explained.
Tuturoong later highlighted that Jokowi will appoint the head of the IKN Authority, who had sound public communication skills.
"The ability to communicate with various parties, including the local community and experts, is a consideration for President Jokowi in selecting the candidate for the head of the IKN Authority," he noted.
Meanwhile, referring to Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN, the President of the Republic of Indonesia appoints and inaugurates the Head and the Deputy Head of the IKN Authority no later than two months after the Law is promulgated on February 15, 2022, or that means until April 15, 2022.
On February 22, 2022, President Jokowi spoke of his intent to immediately appoint the head of the IKN Authority. He noted that the candidate for the head of the authority was a figure from a non-political party.
