As a leader within a working group meeting that will discuss four priority agendas, in the future, we want to produce accurate solutions for handling current global education issues
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Teachers and education personnel director general at the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry Iwan Syahril has said that he expects the G20 Education Working Group (EdWG) to strengthen the commitment to expanding education access.

The most severe impact on education from the pandemic had been learning loss, Syahril, said in a written statement issued here on Wednesday.

Syahril, who is also the chair of the 2022 G20 EdWG, added that to this end, everyone should collectively strive to handle this impact.

In addition, the ministry is seeking to produce a report on good practices from several G20 nations with diverse contexts, such as from Africa, Europe, Asia, America, and Australia.

The report is expected to serve as an inspiration for the world on ways to carry out post-pandemic recovery, especially in education.

To realize this hope, Indonesia has been inspired by a number of parties, both domestic and international, in proposing the agenda developed within the first 2022 G20 EdWG meeting, he said.

Domestically, Indonesia has seen breakthroughs in the transformative Merdeka Belajar (Freedom in Learning) program, such as the Kampus Merdeka (Freedom in Campus) initiative to the expansion of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship program.

Internationally, Indonesia is communicating with several international institutions to observe the current pressing education problems and issues.

Through the 2022 G20 EdWG, Indonesia has invited all G20 member nations and related organizations to the discussion table, not just countries, but also working groups or engagement groups such as B20, Y20, and Think20.

"As a leader within a working group meeting that will discuss four priority agendas, in the future, we want to produce accurate solutions for handling current global education issues," Syahril remarked.

"We also expect that, through this dialogue, G20 countries can translate them into relevant policies and programs in accordance with each countries' context," he added.
