Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government will continue to ensure an effective and accurate policy formulation process for the benefit of the public, such as through big data integration and utilization, the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) stated.

"The president always emphasizes that data is more valuable than oil and became a precious commodity in the decision-making process," KSP Deputy II Abetnego Tarigan noted through a press statement on Wednesday.

"To this end, the KSP continues to assist in bolstering big data integration to all policy makers and improving public service," he said at a conference titled "Knowledge to Policy Conference" on Tuesday.

The KSP will encourage an improvement in the management of data collection in a top-down and bottom-up manner, Tarigan remarked.

Top-down means mean planning at the central level to improve data quality and form policies based on data. Bottom-up means strengthening data management, so that it fits with the standard and can be utilized.

Through Presidential Regulation No.39 of 2019 on Indonesia One Data, the government is committed to presenting accurate, advanced, integrated, and accessible data, he stressed.

The expectation is that the data can be utilized as a basis for development planning, execution, evaluation, and control through streamlining the government's management, he stated.

Several examples of data integration practices that the government had applied include social aid data throughout the pandemic, education core data, and data for cultural preservation.

Data integration and openness will be utilized to address various issues in Indonesia, including handling religious conflict, cultural conservation, as well as law and human rights enforcement, Tarigan stressed.

Earlier, lecturer from Gadjah Mada University Mardhani Riasetiawan was developing big data and cloud computing analysis to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the nation.

Through a written statement on March 16, 2022, he noted that big data analysis managed to estimate and monitor a surge in cases caused by the people's mobility. (INE) Related news: BKKBN hails big data as vital asset for future development
