The President has also emphasized that we are servants of the people.
Solo, C Java (ANTARA) - The government is developing a mechanism for digitizing public services in rural areas to assist communities, Secretary General of the Home Affairs Ministry Suhajar Diantoro has said.

“Hence, local governments are encouraged to take the villages which have implemented digital services as a model to establish faster, easier, and better public services," he said at the 2022 National Digitalization Expo and Summit (DNES) here on Tuesday.

The main obstacles to digitalizing rural areas are inadequate infrastructure and human resources, he said.

Hence, Internet infrastructure, human resource skills, as well as government and society involvement must be improved to build digital services.

Countries can progress faster by transforming their governance through effective public service organization, he noted.

"President Joko Widodo has stated that there are five priorities of the government’s works, such as infrastructure establishment, human resource development, and bureaucratic simplification. The President has also emphasized that we are servants of the people,” he added.

Hence, the ministry is welcoming and supporting the implementation of the 2022 DNES. Diantoro said he hoped that the event will benefit the community from the district/city to the village level.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for Communication and Information Affairs Firlie H. Ganinduto said that inadequate human resources have become a national problem, not only a regional one.

The solution to the problem is providing quality education and literacy as well as improving the rural economy.

The DNES event will serve as a collaboration forum for the digital industry and local governments, the Kadin deputy chairperson said. Hence, it can expedite the government's attempts to improve villages that have not been connected to digitalization.

The 2022 DNES event was held by the Kadin and the Internet Indonesia Foundation in collaboration with the Surakarta city government. It was attended by hundreds of participants from 500 districts and cities in Indonesia. The expo also featured booths of 41 digital-based companies.
