Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Transportation Ministry aims for a total of Rp8.5 trillion (US$592 million) of non-tax revenue in 2022.

Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi, delivered the statement during a meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives here on Monday.

The minister was optimistic that the goal would be met.

Sumadi listed several efforts by the ministry to generate optimal non-tax revenue during the pandemic, such as imposition of the port service policy by changing the Terminal for Self Interest into a Port Business Entity for easier management of income.

The second effort comprises reforming education and training services with an online system based on applications, software, and the web as well as providing on-delivery certificates in addition to face-to-face practical learning.

Third, conduct a campaign on travel safety to increase public trust. Fourth, propose for the Testing Center and Maintenance Center to become a work unit under the Public Service Agency.

Fifth, adopt competitive rates to optimize asset utilization. Sixth, optimizing non-tax revenue flow through the use of State Property and leasing of State Property assets in accordance to Government Regulation 28 of 2020.

Seventh, the imposition of administrative fines in order to ensure compliance from operators.

"We will reform using information technology involving third-party services to control PNBP effectively and efficiently," Minister of Transportation Budi Karya stated.

He was optimistic that the 2022 non-tax revenue target would be achieved, as several sectors saw an increase in capacity, and they would also coordinate with the Finance Ministry in order to meet those ends.

Minister Sumadi pointed to an increase in exports, which meant efforts to generate non-tax revenue from three transportation modes -- land, sea, and air -- could be pushed.
