Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) is preparing weather forecast information services for toll roads for the 2022 Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

"We will provide weather information on land transportation routes, especially toll roads. It will be prepared with special features through the weather forecast in the infoBMKG mobile phone app," BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati informed during a meeting with Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), which was accessed online from here on Wednesday.

She said the agency will also issue early warnings on extreme weather about three hours to 30 minutes prior to the occurrence of the extreme event.

The information will also be conveyed through the special infoBMKG early warning feature.

In addition, the BMKG head said she expected that the dissemination of the weather information will not only be carried out through the agency’s mobile phone app and sought coordination with toll road managers to help deliver weather data along with toll road information.

"We also ask if the early warning information can be displayed on screens along the toll roads that are usually used to show traffic information," she added.

Furthermore, BMKG will provide weather forecasts several days prior to as well as on the Muslims’ holy day.

In addition, Karnawati said that her agency has prepared special weather forecasts and early warnings for tourist destinations.

The agency has also installed, prepared, and calibrated 40 weather radars as well as thousands of equipment across Indonesia to support smooth homecoming and return travel during the Eid Al-Fitr period.
