Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State Intelligence Agency (BIN) has continued to intensify public immunization efforts by running a night vaccination program ahead of the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming.

"The principle is the same, we have been proactive," BIN head General Police (Ret.) Budi Gunawan said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

During Ramadan, he said, many people leave their homes at night. Thus, BIN vaccination teams in all areas have been directed to hold vaccinations at night.

Through the program, the realization of vaccinations carried out by BIN in various regions has yielded positive results, he said. Based on reports from various regions, it has shown the maximum achievement.

The fasting month has not prevented vaccination activities, Gunawan noted. On the contrary, at night, it is even more meaningful because, after the tarawih prayer, people can get vaccination services.

In Denpasar city, the Bali Intelligence Agency has held vaccinations in the courtyard of Al Qomar Mosque at night. Not only the congregation, the vaccination service was opened in the afternoon and continued after the Tarawih prayers.

The vaccination was attended by residents from various parts of Denpasar.

"The atmosphere of harmony is very strong," he said.

Similarly, in East Bolaang district, the vaccination held by the local intelligence agency was attended by all age groups, from children to the elderly. In addition to the first and second doses, BIN is providing the third dose.

According to him, the enthusiasm of the community to welcome and celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1443 H must be guarded by ensuring adequate communal immunity through vaccination. The hope is that Indonesia can control the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gunawan said that the current easing is based on the results of a careful assessment by various parties. The government believes the risks have been measured and can be mitigated.

Basically, he added, the government never wanted to hinder mobility and social interaction as well as religious celebrations. However, because the nation is still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the community must work together, especially in implementing the health protocols.

"God willing, this Eid can be celebrated as our victory in controlling the pandemic," he remarked.
