"Even though the government has issued a policy that homecomers do not need to undergo health screening, the requirement for people who want to join the exodus is they must have gotten the booster or third dose vaccine," Suntana said while monitoring a mass vaccination event at the Juang 45 Building, here on Saturday.
According to him, the command posts would conduct screening against homecomers during the Eid homecoming exodus period regarding the booster vaccination status.
Before traveling for the exodus, people who have not received the booster dose must undergo a COVID-19 antigen test first. If they are tested positive, they will be referred to the isolation facilities provided under the collaboration of the regional governments, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police (Polri).
The step is taken to anticipate a spike in COVID-19 transmission during the Eid period.
"This is a joint effort to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, especially in Sukabumi City as one of the exodus destinations that potentially will be visited by homecomers from various regions," he noted.
He reminded people who will join the Eid exodus to make preparations in order to ensure their homes stay in a safe condition while they are gone.
Then, he also asked people to prepare COVID-19 personal protective equipment starting from masks to hand sanitizers, not to bring goods in excess capacity, not to wear flashy jewelry, always obey traffic rules and not to drive while they are tired or sleepy.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo had emphasized that people would be allowed to join the Eid al-Fitr exodus if they completed the primary and booster vaccinations.
The President also said that every exodus activity should be conducted with strict adherence to the COVID-19 health protocols.
