Hence, we are not creating custom apps but focusing on building networks
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Library Head Muhammad Syarif Bando deems library transformation as urgent, especially in supporting development of the national digital ecosystem.

"We collect information that is spread out in the community then 'repackage' and disseminate it in the form of finished (product of) information, (thereby) making it easier for users to assimilate it," Bando stated during a talk show on Antara TV, "Library Transformation Realizes the National Digital Ecosystem", here on Tuesday.

He noted that in 2022, the National Library targets several content creators to appear on its YouTube channel.

"Hence, we are not creating custom apps but focusing on building networks. For example, sarung products or Balinese carved doors are marketed through the Alibaba marketplace. It sells for hundreds of dollars in the US, but there is no book on how to make them yet," he stated.

Hence, Bando emphasized that everyone can be an entrepreneur with the existing products but the question is how to build an ecosystem with structured products through micro, small, and medium enterprises, or MSMEs.

"What is the role of the library? Everything has science. There are books on applied science that can be searched in libraries, (such as) digital literacy and training for people affected by COVID-19, that is based on the National Economic Recovery (PEN Program)," Bando explained.

He drew attention to the six targets -- content, processing, services, preservation, support, and access -- set by the National Library in digital transformation.

Meanwhile, Coordination Deputy for Mental Revolution, Cultural Advancement, and Sports Achievement Improvement at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Didik Suhardi, stressed that transformation becomes a necessity for the nation's progression.

Suhardi affirmed that the ministry was tasked with building people and culture in welcoming the Golden Indonesia 2045 phenomenon.

"We have human development cycles, specifically the thousand-day cycle of life, comprising the cycles of early childhood, school, college, productive age, and elderly," Suhardi pointed out.

Suhardi pressed for proper intervention in the six cycles through literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills.
