Bantul (ANTARA) - Secretary-General of the Transportation Ministry Djoko Sasono has forecast that 20 percent of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming vehicles will take the Java South Coast (Pansela) route.

"I hope that at least 20 percent of the Eid homecoming vehicles can take the Pansela route to reduce the traffic burden in the middle lane and the north coast route. We hope Pansela would become an alternative route for homecomers bound for Central Java and East Java," Sasono noted while checking the Pansela route on Wednesday.

Since April 19, Sasono was accompanied by several officials to directly inspect the readiness of the Java Pansela route for the 2022 Eid homecoming period.

During that occasion, he remarked that road infrastructure connectivity from Cileunyi, Nagreg, Banjar, Pangandaran, Cilacap, to Wates was relatively good and ready to be used for the homecoming route.

other attractions.

He also noted that the Ministry of Transportation was documenting travel videos that would be used as an evaluation to check which points were prone to traffic jams.

Based on the results of the Transportation Research and Development Agency's (Balitbanghub's) survey, as many as 85.5 million people will travel during the homecoming period, with 47 percent of them using land routes, both private vehicles (cars and motorbikes) or buses.

"The land sector is the most crucial one to handle during this homecoming period. I hope that the southern route of Java can later become an alternative route for travelers," he concluded.
