"By participating in homecoming earlier, it would reduce the level of congestion during the holiday," Shantyabudi noted in a written statement received here on Wednesday.
The Traffic Corps chief expected that people go home earlier in case they are able to get an earlier leave day from what the government had set. By doing so, the roads would not be overcrowded with people going on exodus. "Earlier homecoming would lessen the rate of traffic jams on April 28 to May 1," he remarked.
The notice was given following reports that school students could go on holiday on April 22 and state civil servants were given the day off on April 29.
They would impose two policies -- one-way flow and odd-even plate numbers -- simultaneously on April 28. Authorities will conduct monitoring while also compelling the public to practice discipline in following traffic regulations.
"We must arrange these, so people could go on holiday comfortably. Hence, we truly expect that important information that we have notified about regarding those dates could be followed (by their preparations), such as what time to leave from their places of origin to their destinations," he remarked.

He also urged people to utilize free facilities offered by the government, as it would reduce the use of private vehicles.
"Hence, this is one of the efforts by the government, including the National Police Force. Hence, we advise people to use public transportation, so it would reduce the number of private vehicles plying on the road. Since it is free, please make use of it," he stated.
He called on people to follow the traffic rules in order to maintain order and safety during the Eid exodus.
