Right now, (the situation) is still normal, without any surge in (the number of border crossers) since the Badau border cross checkpoint has not been opened like Entikong and Aruk (border cross checkpoints).
Kapuas Hulu (ANTARA) - Putussibau Kapuas Hulu Immigration Office, West Kalimantan, has taken steps to anticipate an increase in the number of border-crossers at the Badau border crossing checkpoint in Badau sub-district bordering Malaysia ahead of the Eid holidays.

"Right now, (the situation) is still normal without any surge in (the number of border-crossers) since the Badau border crossing checkpoint has not been opened like Entikong and Aruk (checkpoints),” chief of the Immigration Office, Ali Hanafi, said in Putussibau Kapuas Hulu on Monday.

In fact, the Badau border checkpoint has served Indonesians returning from Malaysia and Malaysians returning from Indonesia, but their number is limited, he said.

Only the Entikong and Aruk border crossing checkpoints have been in service. However, he refused to divulge when the Badau border crossing checkpoint will be opened.

To prepare for a surge in the number of Eid travelers, the immigration office is coordinating with the Indonesia-Malaysia border security task force for tightening unauthorized border crossing paths in the border area.
