"Efforts to realize Indonesia's vision as one of the actors of the world's digital economy must be supported by the existence of a strong intellectual property ecosystem," he said at the 2022 World Intellectual Property Day commemoration, held at the Vice President's Palace here on Tuesday.
There is a need for real action on collaboration and synergy schemes, as well as the alignment of intellectual property policies and the achievement of the national development plan, he added.
According to Amin, one of the real actions that can be taken is creating a National Intellectual Property Strategy.
In addition, the commitment to develop micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially in the innovation field, must also be bolstered.
"Understanding the urgency of intellectual property protection is one of the important aspects of empowering MSMEs so that MSMEs can level up," he said.
He expressed the hope that the intellectual property of at least 20 percent of the around 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia can be protected.
Through this, the MSME sector is expected to become capable of supporting the recovery of the national economy actively, and Indonesian-made products will become increasingly in demand in the domestic and international markets.
The Vice President advised all Indonesians, especially the younger generation, to attain digital literacy and utilize it to achieve progress and change.
Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly, reported that the big theme at the 2022 World Intellectual Property Day commemoration was “IP and Youth: Innovating for The Better Future.”
Meanwhile, the national theme that was raised was “Spurring Creativity and Innovation for National Economic Recovery through the Intellectual Economy in Innovation and Creativity.”
