Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 6th President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), on Friday visited former State Intelligence Agency (BIN) head, General (retd.) A.M. Hendropriyono, who has been admitted with dengue at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital here.

"This morning, at 9 a.m., Mr. SBY visited Mr. A.M. Hendropriyono. As a friend and fellow military officer, Mr. SBY gave a spirit of recovery to Mr. Hendropriyono," Spokespersons Coordinator for the Democratic Party Herzaky Mahendra Putra informed.

Putra said he received the information about SBY’s visit to Hendropriyono from Ossy Dermawan, SBY's private secretary. According to him, SBY and Hendropriyono share a great friendship.

"The relationship between these two generals is indeed very good. When the deceased Mrs. Yudhoyono (SBY's wife/former first lady) was treated in Singapore, Mr. Hendropriyono and his family also had time to visit," according to his post on social media.

Meanwhile, Hendropriyono's third child, Diaz Faisal Malik Hendropriyono, uploaded a photo of SBY’s visit on his personal Instagram account.

"Thank you very much Mr. SBY for his concern," Diaz said in the caption.

Other famous figures who visited Hendropriyono included Indonesian businessman Chairul Tanjung and Army Chief of Staff General Dudung Abdurachman.

Abdurachman visited Hendropriyono at the hospital on Thursday (April 28, 2022), and prayed for his senior's recovery. He asked Hendropriyono, who headed BIN from 2001 to 2004, to rest.

During his visit, Abdurachman kissed Hendropriyono's forehead and hand.

Hendropriyono is suffering from dengue, requiring him to be treated at Gatot Subroto Army Hospital in Jakarta. Diaz said his father's condition began to improve on Thursday.

"Alhamdulilah, (his) condition is improving. Platelets were once low at the level of 8 thousand, but now, (he) only needs a bed rest. Thank you to the hospital team, Dr. Terawan, Lieutenant General Budi, and Major General Lukman for their assistance," Diaz said.

Although his condition improved on Friday, doctors have not allowed Hendropriyono to go home.
