Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno has asked the management of Ancol Dreamland to maintain environmental sustainability in tourism areas.

This is because the issue of environmental sustainability is the ministry's main focus for developing the tourism sector for the future, he said.

"Tourism has a very detailed business and concept. So, in addition to the safety and health aspects, sustainability is crucial, and we harmonize this procedure with the new-era society's behavior," Uno remarked after reviewing Ancol Dreamland in North Jakarta on Saturday.

During his review, the minister focused on the readiness of tourist destinations in terms of the health protocols and the management's supervision.

He also checked the ticketing process at the east entrance of Ancol Dreamland, including processes such as body temperature checks and checking in of visitors through the PeduliLindungi application.

According to Uno, as one of the favorite tourist attractions, Ancol Dreamland is predicted to see a surge in visitors to around 55 thousand after the Eid holiday given increased public mobility.

"The data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) showed that the number of tourists who visited this destination (Ancol) reached 9,282,441 people in 2019," he noted.

The management of Ancol Dreamland has implemented several rules during this year's Eid holiday season, in accordance with the Level 2 public activity restrictions (PPKM) level, he said.

The regulations include limiting the capacity of visitors to a maximum of 75 percent or about 90 thousand people, he added.

Prospective visitors can purchase tickets online at least one day prior to visiting using the website www.ancol.com or the Ancol Apps application, the minister said.

"Pre-registration is one of the innovations and an attractive opportunity for digital activation, as well as safe and healthy travel," he added.
