“Alhamdulillah (thank God), the accident rate drastically declined as compared to 2019. According to (state-owned toll road operator) Jasa Raharja's data, the rate of traffic accidents declined by up to 29 percent,” he stated at the Vice Presidential Palace here on Wednesday.
Effendy pointed out that traffic accidents that caused fatalities during the 2022 Eid homecoming exodus had decreased by 56 percent.
"Then, the number of injured people declined by around 30 percent and the (insurance) premium paid by Jasa Raharja was down by around 30 percent," he added.

He noted that in the tourism sector, a major accident took place in a water park named Kenjeran Park (Kenpark) in Surabaya, East Java, with the victim count reaching 16.
The Surabaya Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency reported that a part of the water slide, located at the height of 10 meters at the water park, suddenly snapped and collapsed at around 1:30 p.m. local time on Saturday.
At the time, of the several visitors playing on the slide, some fell off it when it snapped. It is suspected that the slide snapped, as its frame had worn out.
Due to the accident, one child suffered a concussion, three victims suffered fractures in the hands and feet, and five victims suffered minor injuries and shock from falling.

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), of the 16 victims, there are only eight of them, who are still receiving treatment in hospitals," he remarked.
This year, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the Indonesian government has allowed people to travel to their hometowns to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in view of the improving pandemic situation in the country.
According to the Ministry of Transportation's survey, the number of people partaking in the exodus is forecast to reach 85.5 million.
