The program for adding new infrastructure can be implemented proportionally, and in addition, we pay attention to the state's financial condition for the energy reserves that must be pursuedJakarta (ANTARA) - Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Minister Arifin Tasrif affirmed that the draft of the Presidential Regulation regarding energy buffer reserves also examined aspects of energy transition that took into account the projected future electricity demand.
"The program for adding new infrastructure can be implemented proportionally, and in addition, we pay attention to the state's financial condition for the energy reserves that must be pursued," Tasrif noted in a statement on Thursday.
Since 2006, regulations related to energy buffer reserves had been submitted to the State Secretary Ministry, but they have not been ratified since the government still considered the costs and infrastructure, Tasrif explained.

Energy buffer reserves are the total availability of energy sources and their storage nationally to meet the domestic energy needs during certain periods of time or during emergency conditions, such as crises.
The policy for energy buffer reserves is provided to ensure national energy security in line with the energy efficiency policies, he stated.
Currently, several countries already have energy buffer reserves, including the United States (US), Japan, and South Korea. When oil prices soared, energy buffer reserves could be used to stabilize oil prices, as had been done by the US.

In the energy transition era, the Indonesian government will optimize the use of solar radiation to achieve the target of installed renewable energy by 24 thousand megawatts in 2025 and grow to 38 thousand megawatts in 2035.
This clean energy can be stored in a battery-based electricity storage facility or a battery energy storage system (BESS).
Renewable energy has become one of the government's priorities to increase national energy security as well as energy reserves that are in line with the global commitments to reduce greenhouse gases from the energy sector.
