Head of the West Java Provincial Health Service, Nina Susana Dewi, stated that the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination services had decreased during the Eid holidays, though began to increase again after the holiday period came to an end.
"After the holiday period ended, the average vaccination rate was 11,005 doses per day. However, now, the average speed of West Java Province had shown quite a positive progress, with 33,098 doses per day," Dewi noted through a press statement on Saturday.
According to the Health Service's calculation, the implementation of the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccination in the West Java region can be completed on June 30, 2022, if 311,238 doses of COVID-19 vaccine can be injected in a day.
"We must be optimistic that it would be achieved by the end of June 2022," she added.
She later explained that the maximum daily vaccination speed ever achieved by West Java has reached 468,602 doses on October 14, 2021. With that history, she was confident that the West Java Provincial Health Service could achieve it again.
West Java Province requires a supply of around 22 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to complete the vaccination on June 30, 2022.
According to data from the Health Ministry, the total target for COVID-19 vaccination in West Java Province reaches 37,907,814 people.
Meanwhile, data from the West Java Provincial Health Office as of May 12 showed that the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination has covered 95.09 percent of the target, the second dose of vaccination reached 81.89 percent of the target, and the third dose of vaccination covered 27.57 percent of the target.
