We are also preparing a tour to a preservation area of Kalimantan endemic plants...Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The East Kalimantan provincial government has said that the preparations for holding the 2022 G20 Youth 20 (Y20) Pre-Summit (KTT) III in Balikpapan city on May 21–22, 2022, have been completed.
"We are ready to hold the Y20 Pre-Summit III," head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Youth and Sports Office Agus Tianur informed here on Saturday.
The preparation has been conducted thoroughly regarding the venue, the accommodation, as well as officers who will be in charge of welcoming and assisting the participants.
The office head informed that the event will not be funded through the regional budget (APBD), but by third-party sponsors.
However, he said his office has been selective in choosing sponsors since the Y20 event is themed “Sustainable and Livable Planet.”
Thus, if a sponsor does not comply with environmental principles or has ever been proven to damage the environment, it will not be able to fund the event.
Deputy chairperson of the Committee for Balikpapan Y20 Pre-Summit, Hanna Pertiwi, said that Y20 is a platform for millennials from G20 countries to encourage the participation of youths in resolving global issues.
At the Y20 Pre-Summit III, each delegation, including the host East Kalimantan province, will present the results of various activities that have been implemented in their region to create a sustainable and habitable planet.
Further, a focus group discussion (FGD) will be held on the presentations made by the delegates. Another FGD will also be carried out on local wisdom issues, such as the preservation of traditional games.
In addition, products made by several environmentally friendly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) fostered by Bank Indonesia will be exhibited during the event.
"We are also preparing a tour to a preservation area of Kalimantan endemic plants for the delegates to promote forest conservation,” Pertiwi added.
The first and second editions of the 2022 G20 Y20 Pre-Summit were implemented in the cities of Palembang (South Sumatra province) and Lombok (West Nusa Tenggara province), respectively.
