Kupang, NTT (ANTARA) - Head of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police, Inspector General Setyo Budiyanto, has informed that 1,500 personnel have been deployed to secure President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi’s) working visit to NTT province.

"We have secured Ende district and Ngada district with approximately 1,500 personnel today (May 31, 2022) and tomorrow (June 1)," he informed in Ende district, NTT province, on Tuesday.

Some of the personnel were assigned to secure the arrival of the President, while others were tasked with maintaining security in the two districts.

According to information received by ANTARA here, President Widodo was scheduled to arrive in Ende, the city where Indonesia’s first President Soekarno was exiled, on Tuesday afternoon and stay there overnight.

On Wednesday, he will lead a ceremony to commemorate the Pancasila (Indonesia’s five-principle ideology) Day in a field adjacent to the place where Soekarno contemplated the ideology.

After the ceremony, he will make a working visit to Ngada district.

Hence, a number of personnel have been deployed to the district, the regional police chief informed.

Furthermore, he said he expected cooperation from all stakeholders and community members on not indulging in counterproductive actions.

The police also conducted a troop deployment ceremony to review the readiness of the joint personnel of the police, military, and regional government tasked with securing the visit of the President.

As monitored by ANTARA in Ende district, Widodo landed at H. Hasan Aroeboesman Airport around 5:30 p.m. Central Indonesian Standard Time (WITA) on Tuesday. He left the airport by car and got out of the vehicle twice to interact with the local residents.

After leading Wednesday’s commemoration ceremony, he is also scheduled to visit Soekarno’s Contemplation Park and Mbongawani Market in Ende district.
