"Today, 325 officers departed, comprising 206 officers from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and related agencies and 119 officers from the Ministry of Health," Director General of Hajj and Umrah at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Hilman Latief noted in a written statement received here on Wednesday.
Latief remarked that the officers were dispatched to provide services to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
"Those who depart today will serve in the Jeddah Hajj Affairs Office (KUH), Airport Work Area, and Madinah Work Area. They will serve in (areas of) accommodation, consumption, transportation, Hajj rehearsal guidance, and health services," Latief remarked during the officers' departure ceremony at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
On the same occasion, the Special Staff of Religious Affairs Minister for Communication, Media, and Image Building, Wibowo Prasetyo, advised officers to conduct their duties optimally.
He urged officers to help the pilgrims to conduct worship activities properly and comfortably.
"Make this year's pilgrimage the best experience for them. Prepare ourselves to help them conduct their worship well and comfortably," he remarked.
Earlier, the 2022 Hajj Advance Team was dispatched to Saudi Arabia. Some 14 officers departed on May 29, while 16 officers departed on May 31. They will serve about 90 days for the pilgrimage.
The Advance Team is in charge of conducting final checks of all Hajj pilgrimage operations. They will also ensure all services are ready to be provided to the pilgrims.
This year, Saudi Arabia has allowed the Hajj pilgrimage to open for one million pilgrims from various countries. Indonesia has been allotted a quota of 100,051 people for the pilgrimage.
