Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman and founder of the Indonesian Public Policy Society (MAKPI) Riant Nugroho has recommended three measures for realizing the 2045 Golden Indonesia vision.

The vision can be realized with the help of public policies related to human resources, infrastructure, and institutions, he said during the commemoration of the first anniversary of MAKPI, held on the Zoom Meeting platform on Wednesday.

"Today, we propose an idea to achieve Golden Indonesia. Therefore, three agendas in the fields of human resources, infrastructure (and institutions) are needed," he said.

Without the three measures, hard and grand efforts will be fruitless, he added.

Such was the experience 24 years ago when Indonesia marked the jubilee anniversary of its independence—there was political upheaval, which led to the crisis of 1998, he noted.

"The government takes responsibility for creating transformational public policy," he said.

Transformational public policy can be realized if the three measures are taken.

According to Nugroho, human resources in the field of politics and administration must understand that public policy is a determining factor for a nation's success or failure.

In addition, they must understand that public policy must comply with the Independence pledge, no matter the vision and mission of the serving president.

"When it comes to infrastructure, Indonesia needs public policy infrastructure as a means of a vehicle to achieve the goal of excellent public policy," he remarked.

The last is the institutional agenda.

Nugroho said there must be strong organizations or institutions that serve as a counter-veiling force to the government as a policy maker.

"They are civil society actors that have capacity, competency, and credibility," he added.

The presence of such institutions will strengthen the check and balance function of the government, he said.
