When Indonesia celebrates 100 years of independence in 2045, we hope that we would have a golden generation that is able to bring progress to Indonesia and not a demographic burden generation due to stuntingJakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has pinned high hopes over Indonesia truly having a golden generation in 2045 or on the 100th anniversary of the country's independence.
Amin conveyed the statement during his online remarks at the Book Launch "Moving Forward: Local Initiatives in Reducing Stunting in Indonesia" here on
"When Indonesia celebrates 100 years of independence in 2045, we hope that we would have a golden generation that is able to bring progress to Indonesia and not a demographic burden generation due to stunting," he stated.
The vice president noted that efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting in Indonesia had been started since 2018. The vice president emphasized the need to suppress stunting prevalence in children under five years of age, since it had the potential to endanger the future of the nation, in terms of education, health, productivity, and the economy.

Referring to the National Strategy for Accelerating Stunting Reduction (Stranas Stunting), the government continues to strengthen investment in the first one thousand days of human life.
"We should be grateful that the stunting prevalence has now decreased significantly, from 30.8 percent in 2018, to 24.4 percent in 2021. This achievement is based on hard work, smart work, and collaborative work from all parties, both at the central and regional government levels," Amin noted.
He later remarked that the presence of regional innovations that utilize local wisdom and adapt to various characteristics of the local area is important as the program's implementation is not similar to that of other regions.

He assessed that through the book “Moving Forward: Local Initiatives in Reducing Stunting in Indonesia," the public can gain an understanding of the spirit to reduce stunting at the grassroots, where the hard work and dedication of stunting reduction officers can become an example for all parties.
"I hope this book would further motivate cadres, midwives, nutritionists, public health workers, and local governments in carrying out the noble task to reduce stunting cases in Indonesian children, including through efforts to educate and empower the community to participate and prevent stunting," he stated.
Amin personally said that the book was not just a documentation of good practice in the field but also a form of appreciation for local heroes for their struggles and as a medium to deliver innovative ideas for all actors and partners in an effort to accelerate stunting reduction at all levels of government.
