Cikarang, West Java (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health supports the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia with the supply of the 10 largest drug molecules as a strategy to increase the availability of raw materials for domestic drug production.

"The Ministry of Health is transforming the health system through ways, one of which is with the health resilience system to increase resilience of the pharmaceutical sector through local production of biopharmaceutical products, vaccines, and chemical and natural Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API)," Director-General of Pharmacy and Medical Device of the Health Ministry, Rizka Andalucia, said here on Thursday.

Of the 10 largest molecules, until 2021, several medicinal raw materials that could be produced domestically, included Paracetamol by PT Riasima, Clopidogrel and Atorvastatin by PT Kimia Farma Sungwun Pharmacopeia, and Omeprazole by PT Ferron Pharmaceutical, Andalucia noted.

Moreover, apart from the 10 molecules, Erythropoietin produced by PT Daewoong Infion and PT Kalbio Global; Pharmaceutical Salt by PT Karya Daya Syafarmasi; as well as Simvastatin, Atorvastatin, Clopidogrel, Efavirenz, and Entekavir produced by PT. Kimia Farma Sungwun Pharmacopeia were the others that were domestically manufactured.

In order to increase the use of domestically produced medicinal raw materials, the government provides a Change Source Facility for Drug Raw Materials from imported medicinal raw materials to domestic drug raw materials, she stated.

The Health Ministry facilitates the bioequivalence test for substitution of Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel drug raw materials in 2022.

Several industries that will be facilitated include PT Dexa Medica, PT Dipa Pharmalab, PT Phapros Tbk, PT Novell Pharmaceutical Laboratories, PT Pertiwi Agung-PT Otto Pharmaceutical, PT Lapi Laboratories, and PT Meprofarm.

Andalucia conveyed that currently, PT Kimia Farma Sungwun Pharmacopeia had completed the construction of a production facility for the domestic production of raw material for povidone iodine. The production facility has been inaugurated by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

This activity is part of a series of kick-offs to Change Source Facility for Drug Raw Materials and the inauguration of a Drug Raw Material (BBO) Factory at PT Kimia Farma Sungwun Pharmachopia Delta Silicone 1 Lippo Cikarang, South Cikarang, Bekasi District, West Java.
