Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Taxes has sent 18 million emails inviting taxpayers to participate in its voluntary disclosure program, which ends this month, according to an agency official.

"This email is to remind (taxpayers), hence, if they have participated or are not required to participate, just ignore the email," the directorate general's director of counseling, service, and public relations, Neilmaldrin Noor, said here on Monday.

Earlier in March 2022, the directorate general had sent at least 1.62 million emails with the same message, he added.

He said that the process of sending the emails commenced in May and is still going on.

Despite consistently reminding taxpayers to participate in the voluntary disclosure program, the directorate general has not set a revenue target, considering the program's voluntary nature, the director informed.

"We could not set the target, and the estimates are not available yet," Noor said.

He then expressed the hope that taxpayers would utilize the opportunity provided by the program and not report overdue taxes close to the deadline, as the program will not be extended.

Meanwhile, director general of taxes, Suryo Utomo, informed that as of 11 p.m. local time (UTC +7) on June 5, 2022, income tax collected under the voluntary disclosure program has reached Rp12.56 trillion (US$866 million).

"The (Rp12.56 trillion in) taxes have originated from net assets disclosures that reached Rp125.2 trillion value," he said on Monday.

The directorate general has received net asset reports from a total of 61,351 taxpayers and 71,995 statements, he added.

The reported net assets consist of Rp107,35 trillion (US$7.40 billion) in domestic declarations, Rp1.45 trillion (US$100 million) in repatriated assets, Rp7.1 trillion (US$489 million) in investments, and Rp9.15 trillion (US$631 million) in foreign declarations, Utomo disclosed.

The Directorate General of Taxes' voluntary disclosure program allows taxpayers to report overdue or unpaid taxes voluntarily through asset disclosure.

Taxpayers seeking to participate in the program can log their report on the pajak.go.id/pps or contact the taxpayer hotline 1500800 for more information.
