In addition to meeting Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Thursday, President Steinmeier is scheduled to attend meetings concerning the development of industrial cooperation between Germany and Indonesia.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the minister informed that the German President will visit the Indonesian Digital Industry Center (PIDI 4.0) for a round-table meeting and a review.
“(He will be) Attending the German-Indonesia Business Round-Table as well as reviewing the PIDI 4.0, which is a development facility for the implementation of Industry 4.0 built by the Industry Ministry," he informed.
He said that the round-table discussion will focus on investment opportunities for developing the manufacturing sector in Indonesia, especially the semiconductor chip industry, vaccine production, and the development of Industry 4.0.
Investment opportunities in the Indonesian semiconductor chip industry have emerged as the country is a market for electronic products.
In addition, Indonesia’s abundant human and natural resources offer great potential to develop the industry.
Regarding vaccine production cooperation, there are a number of pharmaceutical companies that can also manufacture vaccines, including PT Biotis Pharmaceutical Indonesia and state-run pharmaceutical company PT Bio Farma (Persero).
Vaccine production cooperation is expected to encourage technology transfer for vaccine development and joint vaccine production, which will benefit both parties and assist in the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Regarding the development of Industry 4.0, the Industry Ministry and the Deutsche Messe Technology Academy (DMTA) had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on industrial human resources development and Industry 4.0 transformation during Hannover Messe 2022, held from May 30 to June 2, 2022.
"The collaboration is expected to support the development of Smart Industry Academy in Indonesia," Kartasasmita said.
Indonesia will become a partner country for Hannover Messe 2023. Earlier, the country served as a partner for the largest industrial exhibition in 1995 and 2021.
The minister said that Indonesia will use the opportunity more optimally compared to its previous participation in 2021 as the global pandemic condition has improved.
Being a partner country for Hannover Messe 2023 may increase cooperation between Indonesia and Germany, as well as improve Indonesia's branding as one of the world's economic powers and a global manufacturing player.
"In the event, Indonesia will raise sustainability issues included in the Making Indonesia 4.0 road map," Kartasasmita added.
The Making Indonesia 4.0 road map is a plan to revitalize the national manufacturing sector by using Industrial Technology 4.0 and is expected to boost the global competitiveness of domestic industries.
