Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police will host a multicultural art performance called “Bright Nusantara” (Nusantara Gemilang) to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the police force.

The event will also serve as a platform for people from various cultural backgrounds or ethnic groups to gather together and build relations.

“(The event has been designed) To show this (sense of) togetherness and intimacy to Indonesian citizens and the world," head of the public relations division of National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, said in a written statement received here on Wednesday.

The art performance will symbolize the start of unity through respect, love for each other, as well as harmonizing all kinds of diversity in the sociocultural environment, he added.

"The lives of the Indonesian people who come from various ethnic backgrounds, cultures, religions, traditions, education, economy, is a gift for the Indonesian nation," he remarked.

Creative works based on Indonesian arts and culture will be featured at the event and will showcase the characteristics of each region. They will include dances, vocal group, art, and other creative performances.

Participants for the event have been selected from each region of Indonesia. A total of 16 teams have been selected and brought to Jakarta, where they are undergoing quarantine and preparing for the semifinals and grand finals.

During the debriefing period, participants were taught ethics, body work, vocal exercises, movement, performing arts management, and so on. Denny Malik will be the creative director for the grand final night performance.

For the semifinals and grand finals, participants are expected to bring fresh and creative work to the table, which will need to be different from what they performed during the regional selection. They will be given a time of 3–5 minutes along with musical instruments for their performance, and they have been advised to wear clothes that showcase the beauty of their culture without compromising on modesty.

"All participants are required to take part in the entire series of activities for the Bright Nusantara event," Prasetyo said.

During the quarantine period, the participants' progress will be assessed and later, additional individual awards will be announced for ethics, personality, and friendship.

"The creations of the 16 selected teams will be uploaded on the YouTube channel to be subscribed and liked by the public, family, relatives, friends, and fans of the participants," he added.
