We (the task force at the commission) have been given the task of monitoring the national program that is focused on the theme of 2022 Supervision on Stunting Prevalence Suppression Program by Regional Governments
Sleman, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reviewed the stunting reduction program in Sleman district, Yogyakarta, on Thursday.

Sleman district head Kustini Sri Purnomo and deputy district head Danang Maharsa received officials from the commission at the Sembada Meeting Room at the Sleman District Regional Secretariat Office.

Head of the coordination and supervision task force for Region IV at KPK, Harun Hidayat, said that the visit was part of efforts to monitor the situation and prevent corruption in the conduct of the stunting reduction program by regional governments.

"We (the task force at the commission) have been given the task of monitoring the national program that is focused on the theme of 2022 Supervision on Stunting Prevalence Suppression Program by Regional Governments," he informed.

The implementation of the national program at the regional level needs to be monitored given the rather large budget allocated for it every year.

In 2021, Sleman district was one of the places with a low stunting rate of 16 percent, which was much lower than the national rate of 24 percent.

"Yogyakarta was chosen because it is among the top three with low stunting rates, and has been able to reduce stunting rates, including in Sleman district," Hidayat said.

During the KPK review, the Sleman district government provided details on the program's stages—from planning and budgeting to supervision carried out by each agency.

Sleman district head Purnomo said the commission's working visit would motivate the Sleman district government to improve the program’s implementation.

The district government is committed to supporting government programs for bringing down stunting prevalence to 14 percent by 2024, he added.

"It doesn't just stop there. The Sleman district government is even committed to target that by 2026, (we) will be able to reduce the stunting rate to below 5 percent," he said.

A number of regulations have been issued to reach that goal, such as the Head of Sleman District Regulation No. 22.1 of 2021 concerning Integrated Stunting Prevention Efforts, Head of Sleman District Regulation No.1.8 of 2021 concerning Social Safety Nets, and Head of Sleman District Regulation No. 28.3 of 2021 concerning Village's Authority in Integrated Stunting Prevention and Management Efforts at the Village Level.

"To support efforts to expedite stunting reduction, we have also formed a Team for Stunting Reduction Efforts in Sleman district, which was established by a Decree of Head of Sleman District Number 12.3 of 2022. This team is led by the deputy head of Sleman district," he said.
