It is an honor for NTB (province) to be able to host the MXGP.
Sumbawa, NTB (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali officially inaugurated the Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) of Indonesia at the office of the head of Sumbawa District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, on Friday.

The racing event will be held at the Samota Rocket Motor Circuit MXGP, Sumbawa District, on June 25 and 26, 2022.

"It is an honor for NTB (province) to be able to host the MXGP. Not only (for) this year (2022), but also for five years. The government encourages similar activities (to be implemented) after the COVID-19 pandemic," the minister remarked.

He said he expected the province to continue to improve other public facilities so that the implementation of the sporting event could help improve the economy of the surrounding community.

Amali also welcomed international racers competing at MXGP and said he hoped that more Indonesian representatives would take part in the Motocross World Championship series.

“In this year, there are four Indonesian riders who are participating in the event. I hope that the Indonesian athletes will continue to improve, thus next year (2023), there will be more Indonesian riders competing in the event,” he added.

Furthermore, he said he expected many international sporting events to be hosted in Indonesia.

Four athletes will represent Indonesia in the championship series: Farhan Hendra Fahrodjie, who will compete in the MXGP class, and Ananda Rigi Aditya, Muhammad Delvintor Alfarizi, and Diva Ismayana, who will compete in the MX2 class.

According to the entry list, 38 riders will participate in the racing event, with 21 competing in the MXGP class and 17 in the MX2 class.

Meanwhile, Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah said that the public warmly welcomed the racers.

“Welcome to Sumbawa. We are pleased to welcome all of you. The (racing) location is great. Thus, I hope that this year's MXGP participants can enjoy it," he remarked.
