Jakarta (ANTARA) - The riders competing in the Samota Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) partook in their free practice session at the Samota-Sumabawa Rocket Motor Circuit MXGP, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, on Saturday.

The first free practice session took place at 10:40 a.m. Central Indonesian Standard Time (WITA, UTC+8), starting with the riders of the MX2 class.

They practiced for 25 minutes to gain an understanding of the 1.8-kilometer (km) track having 18 turns and 11 obstacles.

Furthermore, the riders of the MXGP class partook in the first free practice of the same duration at 11:15 a.m. WITA.

The racers were scheduled to conduct the practice session twice. Meanwhile, the qualification session will start at 3:15 p.m. WITA.

The main event of the Samota MXGP will be held on Sunday (June 26), starting with the warm-up session for MX2 racers at 10:25 a.m. WITA.

Meanwhile, the warm-up session for the MXGP riders is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. WITA.

Furthermore, the first race for MX2 racers and MXGP riders will start at 12:05 p.m. WITA and 1:05 p.m. WITA respectively.

The second race of the MX2 class will start at 3 p.m. WITA and is continued with the second race for the MXGP class at 4 p.m. WITA.

Some 38 riders will compete in the Samota MXGP, with 21 of them competing in the MXGP class and 17 in the MX2 class.

Four athletes will represent Indonesia in the championship series: Farhan Hendra Fahrodjie, who will compete in the MXGP class, and Ananda Rigi Aditya, Muhammad Delvintor Alfarizi, and Diva Ismayana, who will compete in the MX2 class.

The Motocross World Championship was inaugurated by Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali at the office of the head of Sumbawa District, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, on Friday (June 24).

Tim Gajser clocked the best time of one minute, 54.962 seconds, in the first free practice session of the MXGP class.
