Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry urged Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to optimize facilities and services provided by the government to smooth their pilgrimage and to also observe local regulations.

"(Indonesian Hajj pilgrims must) have sufficient rest, consume food in a timely manner, and maintain physical fitness and health, so they can undergo the wuquf (obligatory stay at the Arafat Plains) ritual in a healthy, smooth, and orderly manner," the ministry's Indonesia Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) Spokesperson Akhmad Fauzin stated at a press conference on Hajj here on Monday.

Some services provided by the authority are the provision of three meals a day, the Zamzam water in Medina and Mecca, a visit package provided through the Adilla Muassasah (local pilgrim organizer) in Medina, and a round-the-clock shuttle service from pilgrims' lodgings to the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, the official expounded.

Hajj officers are also ready to cater to Indonesian pilgrims, especially those who are lost or separated from their groups, for 24 hours at Medina's Prophet Mosque and the Masjid al-Haram, Fauzin remarked.

"We also provide Hajj guidance and consultation every day in Mecca," he noted.

He stated that apart from preparing medical services in Mecca and Medina, the government also provides routine health checks for Indonesian pilgrims organized in respective travel groups.

"The government will provide accompaniment and guidance for sick pilgrims," the official stated.

Fauzin then reminded Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to reduce outdoor activities, consume water frequently, and not compel themselves to perform prayers at Masjid al-Haram, considering the high temperatures in the city, which may reach 35 degrees Celsius.

"(Pilgrims) must also wear masks while gathering indoors, particularly while they are at the Prophet's Mosque and Masjid al-Haram," he remarked.

According to the Hajj Media Centre's data, the Indonesia Hajj Office recorded 72,092 Indonesian pilgrims -- equal to 75 percent -- of the entire 100,051 pilgrims performing their Hajj this year arrived in Saudi Arabia as of Sunday (June 26) evening.

Of the 72 thousand Indonesian pilgrims, a total of 68,943 pilgrims arrived at Mecca, with 42,404 pilgrims arriving from Medina and 26,541 pilgrims from Jeddah.
