Implementing a transparent bureaucracy which is free of corruption and able to serve (the community) well can be the key to the success of the KKP program in the future.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Ministry has launched an online fish farming consultation service called the Efficient and Humanist Information System via Chatting (SiCatfish) to help fish farmers order broodfish and fish seeds.

"(SiCatfish) is an innovation developed by the (ministry’s) Sungai Gelam Freshwater Fisheries Cultivation Center (BPBAT) located in Jambi province," director general of aquaculture at the ministry, Tb Haeru Rahayu, informed in a statement here on Tuesday.

The information system has officially been launched and made accessible to the public since June 28, 2022, he added.

SiCatfish is also directly connected to a WhatsApp gateway system to provide 24-hour, quick, and responsive service.

The director general said that the system also uses an auto-reply feature for interactive services according to the needs of the users.

In addition to taking orders for broodfish and fish seeds, the services provided by the SiCatfish include laboratory, fish farming practices and internships, and broodfish and fish seed price information, as well as complaint services, he added.

He said that the establishment of the information system showed the ministry’s efforts to improve integrity throughout its working area.

"Implementing a transparent bureaucracy, which is free of corruption and able to serve (the community) well, can be the key to the success of the KKP program in the future," Rahayu remarked.

Through SiCatfish, all stakeholders in the aquaculture sector, such as farmers and training officers, can easily access the required services using their smartphones.

Meanwhile, head of Sungai Gelam BPBAT, Andy Artha, who was the initiator of the information system, said that SiCatfish was launched to improve public services.

"Hopefully, the innovation can facilitate the public to access information (on fish cultivation). In addition, it will become a reference for service assessment at Sungai Gelam BPBAT," he added.
