According to a statement received here on Wednesday, the vice president was welcomed by Saudi officials with military honors at the Medina Royal Terminal after a nine-hour flight aboard the Garuda Indonesia Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft that departed from Indonesia.
After conversing with Saudi officials, Amin and Wury were transported to Hilton Hotel in Medina.
For a period of at least seven days, the vice president and the second lady will spend their time performing Hajj rituals in Medina and Mecca.
Amin and his entourage will continue to maintain their physical stamina amid high temperatures and observe health protocols enforced by the Saudi authority during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Vice President's spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi remarked that the vice president's Hajj pilgrimage this year is performed upon invitation from the Saudi authority.
"Today, the Vice President and Madam Wury Ma'ruf Amin will visit Saudi Arabia. The vice president has accepted an invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj pilgrimage this year," Baidlowi stated on Tuesday.

He said that the invitation, granted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, was delivered by Saudi Ambassador Esam A. Abid Althagafi directly to Amin.
"The invitation was presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on June 9 when the Saudi ambassador visited the vice president's residence," the spokesperson noted.
During the visit, Althagafi also informed Amin about measures taken by the Saudi authority to ready the Hajj pilgrimage this year after restricting overseas Hajj pilgrims for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
