Solo (ANTARA) - The G20 Trade, Investment, and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) meeting in Solo pushed for the realization of the three main agendas proclaimed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"One of them is how to strengthen the global health infrastructure," Director General of International Trade Negotiations at the Trade Ministry Djatmiko Bris Witjaksono said at the TIIWG G20 meeting at Alila Hotel, Solo, on Wednesday.

The TIIWG was established in 2016 as a part of the G20 working group to discuss major trade and investment issues as well as to coordinate efforts by G20 nations to strengthen global trade and investment.

The other two agendas proclaimed by the President are promoting digitalization and energy transition. Through the meeting, the G20 member countries also sought to ensure that the reform process of the World Trade Organization (WTO) runs in accordance with the aspirations of WTO member nations, both developing and non-developing ones.

"Earlier, the direction from the Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia was clear, that there was a common position between countries, both have a voice, have rights," Witjaksono said.

The meeting of WTO member countries in Geneva, Switzerland some time ago delivered good results and was in line with the vision and mission of the G20, he noted.

"In order to encourage sustainable economic growth and community welfare, there must be a sustainable investment process while paying attention to environmental and social aspects. We ensure that we share a common view to realize the President's direction," Witjaksono remarked.

The meeting also discussed the efforts of the trade, industry, and investment sectors to respond to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, at a similar meeting a few months ago, discussions about the role of the multilateral trading system were discussed in line with the principles of sustainable development, he added.

"In March, we also discussed the role of trade digitization and strengthening global supply chains as well as discussing cooperation and collaboration for Industry 4.0 to help the industry system run sustainably," he said.
