Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned logistics firm Perum Bulog and Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) inked an agreement for cooperation in the fields of education, research, social service, and human resource development.

The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Perum Bulog's Director of Human Capital Purnomo Sinar Hadi and Unsoed's Rector Prof. Akhmad Sodiq, which was witnessed by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Thohir, during the Public Lecture with a National Figure event at the Jenderal Soedirman University campus, Purwokerto, Central Java, on Tuesday.

“Collaboration of SOEs and universities is highly needed in creating a strong digital generation in the era of disruption. We have to think about how to gain independence in food and energy, as well as achieve economic sovereignty. The digital economy is our future economy that has big opportunities and markets," Thohir noted in a statement received here on Wednesday.

On the occasion, the minister drew attention to five trends of global disruption -- geo-economics, demographics, environment, technology, and health -- that the country should be ready to face in order to realize the dream of a golden Indonesia in 2045.

He noted that economic growth should not only rely on natural resources but also be strengthened by a knowledge-based economy by harboring a mindset of growth, so that the younger generation can become more resilient and adaptive.

Perum Bulog's Director of Human Capital, Purnomo Sinar Hadi, stated that the firm provides opportunities for Unsoed students to gain experience by working there through internship programs.

"In addition to providing support by holding the Public Lecture with a National Figure, Bulog participates in advancing Indonesian education by opening internship opportunities for students," he remarked.

Hadi emphasized that education is essential to prepare a strong generation for the future. "For that reason, Bulog is ready to serve and give our best to support this," he affirmed.
