Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Industry Ministry is striving to expedite the adoption of Industry 4.0 by implementing the Making Indonesia 4.0 roadmap.

In order to materialize one of the priorities outlined in the roadmap, the ministry has built the National Digital Industry 4.0 Center (PIDI 4.0) as a one-stop solution for implementing Industry 4.0 in Indonesia as well as reducing the digital divide between Indonesia and the world.

The center is run on the basis of a collaborative concept between the government and private companies as well as universities.

It is good news, especially when several industries and universities demonstrate enthusiasm in becoming partners in the program. It is important for all stakeholders of Industry 4.0 to actively contribute to its implementation in Indonesia.

PIDI 4.0 has five functions: Showcase Center, Delivery Center, Capability Center, Engineering and AI Center, and Ecosystem for Industry 4.0.

As a showcase center, PIDI 4.0 has constantly demonstrated technological innovation in several sectors, for instance, the ice cream production line from PT Indolakto as well as the Toyota Model Factory.

One of the goals of PIDI 4.0 is to serve as a platform that showcases innovation in Industry 4.0 technology in manufacturing aspects, such as the steps taken by the two companies.

Capability Center is one of the functions of PIDI 4.0 to train experts in Industry 4.0 by using a curriculum that marries theory and practice from first-hand experience and rewards certificates of competence to industry workers of Industry 4.0 technology.

PIDI 4.0 created modules and curriculum that meet the National Standard of Work Competence, which in 2022, is targeted for managers, maintainers, and engineers. Moreover, during the period from 2023 to 2025, it is targeted for mechatronics, automation industry, cybersecurity, lean manufactory, and big data.

As a Capability Center, PIDI 4.0 offers education and training as well as certifications for workers of Industry 4.0. In 2022, PIDI aims to provide certificates for 1,400 workers, and the target is to reach five thousand by 2025.

The center also offers a workshop and seminar within its capability as a Delivery Center to seven priority sectors adopting Industry 4.0: textile and fashion, food and beverages, chemicals, automotives, electronics, pharmacy, and medical equipment.

Through that function, the ministry facilitates industries in conducting transformation towards adoption of Industry 4.0.

As for the Engineering and AI Center, PIDI 4.0 facilitates companies that were undergoing transformation towards Industry 4.0 in conducting research and prototyping, such as through computer visual and artificial intelligence, microelectronics and controller, tooling and parts.

The facilities provide solution for problems that the industries are facing as well as offer a test bed for new technology application.

As for the Ecosystem for Industry 4.0 pillar, PIDI 4.0 collaborates with national and global companies, as well as universities, as partners. These stakeholders are said to have interest in being part of the PIDI 4.0 ecosystem.

Up until now, PIDI 4.0 has had 25 partners from the industry and two universities in Indonesia.

"I am confident that there are still many partners from the industry and universities that will be part of the PIDI 4.0 ecosystem," head of the industrial human resources development agency at the Industry Ministry, Arus Gunawan, stated.

The agency also inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Schneider Electric Indonesia, Arcstone Pte, Ltd, and Zyfra in order to collaborate to accelerate the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Indonesia.

Through this partnership, PIDI 4.0 is open to ideas and opportunities that support the successful transformation of Industry 4.0 in Indonesia. The Industry Ministry expects industries that have become partners can provide constructive ideas for the development of PIDI 4.0.

The Industry Ministry expects that the collaboration between PIDI 4.0 and its partners can be truly pursued to support the government's Making Indonesia 4.0 Program.

The ministry has urged industry players, who are technology providers, service providers, and all stakeholders, to actively contribute in accelerating the transformation of Industry 4.0 in Indonesia through PIDI 4.0.
