Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Communication and Informatics Ministry serves as an enabler for society as it enters the Industry 4.0 era and to this end will bolster commitment and collaboration with other ministries, institutions, and ecosystem.

"Our people, in fact, the entire world will continue to talk about digitalization," Communication and Informatics Minister Johnny G. Plate noted through a press statement on Saturday.

"For Indonesia, the main duty and basic foundation have been entrusted to us, because the ministry acts as an enabler for Indonesian citizens as they enter the Industry 4.0," he stated during the Digital Leaders' Meeting in Yogyakarta.

The ministry is in charge of providing a digital ecosystem from upstream to downstream, which encompasses telecommunication infrastructure development to ensuring the quality of national digital talents.

To assist in the program execution for the 2022 Budget Year, President Joko Widodo has tasked the ministry with building a telecommunication infrastructure to ready adequate regulations or a legal umbrella.

"We were given the responsibility to ensure equal availability of ICT infrastructure in all of the nations' regions and also to ensure that the downstreaming of ICT infrastructure should have already been used optimally," Plate remarked.

The ministry had also been mandated to ready adequate regulations for the digital ecosystem. The minister deemed that this necessitates cooperation with several institutions, partners, and ecosystems for such regulations.

"The goal is to take Indonesia into the digital era through optimal people's participation, including ensuring mitigation over the impact of digitalization, so that our national digital space will be beneficial," he remarked.

The ministry strives to ensure an optimal and efficient frequency spectrum resource management on account of the quite vast projected digitalization requirement.

"We are also adopting new technologies, but the frequency spectrum resource management is entrusted to the ministry," Plate noted.

"Not just as the state's revenue but also to become the basic foundation for national telecommunication development and the multiplier effect arising from that trust," he noted.
