Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held an extensive discussion on Saturday with dozens of young professionals in economics and business at his private residence in Bogor, West Java.

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the participants presented their ideas for advancing the country's development during the meeting.

He said the 82 young professionals in attendance are alumni of various top universities in Indonesia and abroad. They are part of the Presidential Fellowship in Economics & Business Leadership, an initiative personally launched by President Prabowo.

"During the meeting, which lasted more than five hours, President Prabowo listened to presentations, engaged in question-and-answer sessions, and exchanged views on recent developments in science, technology, business, and economics," Teddy said.

Photos released by the Cabinet Secretariat showed President Prabowo attentively listening and taking notes on key points raised by the participants.

Topics presented included the mastery of modern pharmaceutical and medical device technology, semiconductor development, and strategies to achieve energy independence by eliminating fuel imports.

Teddy explained that the Presidential Fellowship in Economics & Business Leadership is a special scholarship program initiated by President Prabowo for young professionals expected to become future leaders in their fields. Recipients were selected through a rigorous process conducted by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

Among the recipients is Carina Citra Dewi Joe, a young scientist from Oxford University who contributed to the development of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. She was awarded an honorary professorship by Airlangga University in Surabaya on December 20, 2023.
