Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday for the 13th Annual Consultation between Indonesia and Malaysia.

Prime Minister Anwar’s motorcade entered the Merdeka Palace Complex at around 10:10 a.m. local time. President Prabowo welcomed him personally as he stepped out of his vehicle. After shaking hands and greeting reporters, the two leaders walked side by side into the palace.

Before inviting Anwar into the Credential Room, Prabowo introduced him to several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

Also present were Head of the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency (BIN) Muhammad Herindra and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Prime Minister Anwar introduced members of his delegation as well, which included Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, Home Affairs Minister Saifudin Nasution, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, among others.

President Prabowo then led PM Anwar into the Credential Room for a photo session and the signing of a state guest book, symbolizing the friendly ties between their countries.

The two leaders then held a one-on-one meeting at the president’s office.

They are scheduled to co-chair a bilateral meeting with their respective delegations, to be followed by the signing of several cooperation documents covering land border management, healthcare, and information and communications technology.

Prime Minister Anwar arrived in Indonesia via the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Monday (July 28) at around 8 p.m. local time and was hosted for dinner by President Prabowo at his Jakarta residence.

Indonesia and Malaysia last held a high-level consultative meeting in Kuching, Sarawak, in 2017, led by then-President Joko Widodo and then-Prime Minister Najib Razak.
