According to a post by the official presidential Instagram account @presidenrepublikindonesia on Tuesday, the banquet marked the first official agenda of Anwar’s visit to Indonesia, following his arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Airfield in Jakarta at 8 p.m. local time on Monday.
Photos from the event showed Prabowo warmly welcoming Anwar and his delegation at his Kertanegara residence before they proceeded to a one-on-one dinner.
Several Indonesian cabinet ministers were seen attending the dinner, including State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, among others.
President Prabowo and Prime Minister Anwar are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday for the 13th Indonesia-Malaysia Annual Consultation, where they are expected to discuss strategic bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders will also witness the signing of four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) covering cooperation in land border management, healthcare, and information and communications technology.
During his visit to Jakarta, Prime Minister Anwar is also expected to visit the ASEAN Secretariat, at the invitation of Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, and deliver a policy speech on ASEAN in the context of Malaysia’s chairmanship in 2025.
Malaysian ministers accompanying Anwar on his visit include Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan, Home Affairs Minister Saifuddin Nasution, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Also joining the visit were Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg and Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor.
