The president was initially scheduled to officiate the graduates as civil servants and deliver directives to them at the IPDN Campus in Sumedang District, West Java, on Monday morning.
"We just received information confirming that the president has canceled his visit because he is set to hold an important meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Jakarta this afternoon, which indeed requires preparations," Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto remarked.
When contacted from the IPDN campus on Monday, he noted that the head of state also has urgent matters to attend to regarding government coordination at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
With President Prabowo unable to make it to the campus, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian stepped in to preside over the inauguration ceremony. He had already arrived in Sumedang on Sunday (July 27).
