Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Investment will disseminate information on and distribute business identification numbers (NIBs) to individual micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in Medan City, North Sumatra Province, on July 20 and 21, 2022.

Similar events were earlier organized in Surakarta and Jakarta as a manifestation of the government's commitment to providing easy licensing, especially for individual MSEs.

The event in Medan would be attended by Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Minister Teten Masduki, and North Sumatra Governor Edy Rahmayadi in person, special staff for regional relations at the ministry, Tina Talisa, informed in a written statement issued here on Tuesday.

"We are cooperating with several partners, both state-owned enterprises and the private sector, to provide online tutoring to individual MSE players. Currently, they can process NIBs through phones. Thankfully, this strategy is running well; NIBs can be processed fast, easy, and free of charge," she said.

Individual MSE players have adapted quite well to the digitalization of licensing, implemented by the Ministry of Investment through the Indonesia OSS application, she observed.

She explained that it is essential for individual MSE players to have NIBs because that allows them several benefits, such as business legality and easy access to capital from financial institutions to develop their businesses.

"As stated by the President at the event in Jakarta last week (July 13), individual MSEs must continue to be encouraged to take care of the legality of their business so that they can take advantage of the people's business credit (KUR) facility readied by the government," she remarked.

Medan city has been chosen as the third region for the dissemination and distribution of NIBs out of 20 regions in Indonesia selected for the purpose for this year.

Earlier, the Ministry of Investment held the event in Surakarta city, Central Java province, on July 5 and 6, and in Jakarta on July 12 and 13. President Joko Widodo attended the event in Jakarta in person.
