We need to reform the corporation to make us better and serve clean water for all Jakartans
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Smart Water Hackathon has been organized as a step toward the digitalization of clean water services for Jakartans, President Director of Jakarta-owned water tap company PAM JAYA Arief Nasrudin said here on Saturday.

"This is PAM JAYA's move toward digital transformation," he noted.

PAM JAYA marks its 100th year this year, hence the company has decided to make the shift toward digitalization, he explained.

"I thought that this is the moment because we cannot wait any longer given that digitalization development is unavoidable," he remarked.

"We need to reform the corporation to make us better and serve clean water for all Jakartans," he added.

PAM JAYA has organized the Smart Water Hackathon considering the number of Indonesian digital talents.

Nasrudin said he expects the talents to make programs or applications that can support PAM JAYA in digitalizing its services in Jakarta.

The hackathon has been organized as part of the push for piped water services transformation.

Through the activity, PAM JAYA, along with Oracle, will collaborate with talents in the IT field to develop software that can support the digitalization of piped water services in Jakarta.

The competition will have eight challenges that will cover meter reading, payment/bill, new connection, water quality monitoring, virtual tour, water education, complaint handling, and Non-Revenue Water (NRW).

The Smart Water Hackathon will proceed in two phases: the first phase will involve proposal submissions and the second phase will involve solution development evaluation.

A total of 100 participants have been chosen for the hackathon, which will take place here on July 23–24, 2022. The selected participants will collaborate for 24 hours to create piped water service innovation in Jakarta.
