Solo (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Senny Marbun has confirmed that all 14 venues for the 2022 XI ASEAN Para Games (APG) in Solo are ready for use.

Indonesia will host the ASEAN Para Games for the second time from July 30 to August 6, 2022.

"All the venues for the 2022 APG are ready five days prior to the opening ceremony," Marbun said in Solo, Central Java, on Monday.

Of the 14 sports venues, only eight have been renovated for the APG, namely the UTP Sports Hall (sitting volleyball), UNS Sports Hall (goalball), Sriwedari Stadium (torch relay), Kota Barat Field (archery), Manahan Tennis Field (wheelchair tennis), FKOR Sports Hall (boccia), Tirtonadi Convention Hall (judo), and UNS Stadium (football), with a total budget of around Rp36.22 billion.

All the arenas have been prepared, both the venue and audience access, Marbun informed.

In fact, all match facilities such as lighting, toilets, and other facilities that are disabled-friendly have been made prepared, he added.

Disabled spectators who wish to attend the multisports event will be allowed free entry, he said. In order to enter the venue, the spectators will be required to have obtained the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As of Monday, all Indonesian contingents have arrived in Solo and they will stay in hotels based on their sports branches, Marbun said. Foreign contingents will arrive on Tuesday (July 26) and will join the Indonesian athletes at the hotels.

Athletes will compete in 14 sports at the 2022 APG: athletics at the Manahan Stadium Solo, boccia at the FKOR UNS Sports Hall, archery at the Kota Barat field, judo at the Tirtonadi Convention Hall, table tennis at the Solo Techno Park, weightlifting at the Solo Paragon Hotel, swimming at the Jatidiri Semarang Sports Hall, tennis at the Manahan Stadium Solo, chess at the Lor In Dwangsa Hotel Solo, badminton at the UMS Edutorium, CP Football at the UNS Stadium, basketball at the Sritex Sports Hall, and sitting volleyball at the UTP Sports Hall.

For lodging, the Indonesia National Paralympic Organization Committee (INASPOC) has prepared 19 hotels: 17 hotels in Solo area and two hotels in Semarang city. The Magalend Solo Hotel and Aston Hotel have been prepared for archery athletes and officials, the Swiss Hotel Bel Saripetojo and Haris Hotel for athletics athletes, the Lor In Hotel for badminton players, the Alana Hotel for boccia, the Lor In Dwangsa Hotel for chess players, and Novotel for CP football players.

Meanwhile, the Paragon Hotel has been prepared for court tennis and weightlifting athletes, the Sunan Hotel for table tennis players, the Kusuma Sahid Hotel for basketball players, the Sahid Jaya Hotel for goalball players, the Grand Hap Hotel for judo athletes, the Royal Heritage Hotel and Swiss Bel Gilingan Hotel for seated volleyball athletes, the Solia Zigna Laweyan Hotel for classifiers, and the Haris Hotel Semarang and Arus Hotel Semarang for swimming athletes.

The 2022 APG in Solo will be participated by 11 countries, namely Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Brunei, Laos, Vietnam, and host Indonesia.
